About the Hospital

Christian Hospital Chhatarpur is a 150-bedded hospital situated in the district at the North East border of Madhya Pradesh. Christian Hospital Chhatarpur was started in the year 1930 as ‘The Elizabeth Jane Bell Stephenson Memorial Hospital’, and was made possible by a gift from Catharine Stalker and Dr. Jennie Stephenson. The target population of CHC is all those who need medical care in Chhatarpur and the surrounding area of Bundelkund, one of the most under-developed parts of India. The hospital desires to be poor-friendly and accessible. The hospital is part of the EHA (Emmanuel Hospital Association) group of hospitals.

TIMT Involvement

At Christian Hospital Chhatarpur, TIMT aims to continue developing the hospital along with EHA into a well-equipped modern mission hospital with good infrastructure (including housing and facilities that promote recreation, fellowship and schooling). TIMT will be providing grants to the hospital specifically for the following requirements:

TIMT has been helping to improve the quality systems in the hospital, and has appointed a quality consultant to guide them through the process of accreditation with the NABH. A final inspection was concluded and all non-compliances have been cleared. The hospital is currently awaiting accreditation from the NABH board. TIMT has already helped set up the following facilities:

  • Modern Intensive Care Unit with new furniture, equipment, air-conditioning, and advanced monitoring with Philips multi-parameter monitors, including end-tidal carbon dioxide monitoring

About the Hospital and TIMT Involvement

TIMT has signed an MOU with the Rural India Mission Trust to set up a 100-bedded hospital in Tumkur district of Karnataka. The RIM trust was founded by the Anchan family and run by them since inception; however the existing facilities needed to be upgraded and they approached TIMT to help build a new hospital.

This is planned as a state-of-the-art secondary level hospital with 4 modern operation theatres, Intensive Care Unit, NICU, and a dialysis unit. The hospital will be catering to the entire district and beyond as well. Work is scheduled to start in the latter half of 2021, if the situation permits. It is envisioned as a not-for-profit hospital.
